About Leah Rowe
Hi, I’m Leah Rowe, a children’s book illustrator and graphic designer based in Milton Keynes, UK. I’ve spent over twenty years in design and the past seven years specialising in children’s book illustration – the work I truly love.
My passion lies in bringing stories to life through imagination, warmth and character. I believe that illustration can spark curiosity, emotion, and joy in children – helping them see the world in new and magical ways.
I was born in Dubai, U.A.E., and grew up in various towns across the UK, which gave me a love of storytelling and a sense of adventure. My favourite books as a child were Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak and anything by Roald Dahl. When reading to my own children as they grew up, I rediscovered that magic through the wonderful stories of Julia Donaldson and the expressive artwork of Axel Scheffler – a pairing that continues to inspire me.
After many years working as a graphic designer, I realised that my heart was in illustration – in capturing moments of imagination that make children smile or wonder “what happens next?”. Now, every project I take on is a chance to create something playful, heartfelt, and lasting.
Through this website, I hope to share my work, connect with others who love children’s books, and help inspire creativity in new illustrators and storytellers.
